Well... Yeah, but you can load the Linux yourself and save $59-79. :)

I think the significance lies in the fact itself that you can BUY a TP with Linux pre-installed, as opposed to being force-fed on M$-Windoze.

How's that ? You would have to pay extra on top of what you'd pay if you just got XP. Given the choice of distributions that linux installation will have no support, no special drivers etc etc. It's as good as downloading and installing one yourself, check this http://lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=134

A point will come, I'm fairly certain, when more of the machines will be offered with no software, which I would highly embrace...since I'm really not too crazy about all the stuff that IBM/Lenovo adds to its versions of MS, not including drivers, of course.

I have seen quite a few and owned a couple of "customer configured" ThinkPads with no preload, but have never figured out whether these were just "corporate specials", or there was a way of getting one as an individual...
