Opensuse ibm x61

#1 Post by njs4 » Tue Jan 22, 2008 7:17 am

Hey wondering if anyone had any idea on why my laptop (x61) won't connect to the my wireless router. I am running opensuse 10.3 ?? I see all the networks but can't connect to any of them. I have installed other version of linux ie ubuntu and sabayon both worked fine. I did configure the network card with yast it seems like it is working just can't connect. Any help would be great. Do I have to install ndswrapper?

You shouldn't need ndiswrapper as both the x61s' options (Thinkpad ABG/Atheros and Intel 3945 or 4965) have drivers in Linux.

Have you double checked if you're associating but not getting an address via dhcp? Associate with whatever GUI Opensuse gives you, then open a terminal and try

Code: Select all

sudo dhclient

Replace all instances of ath0 with wlan0 in the latter thread if you have an Intel card.
