How to enable cleartype in Konqueror KDE?

#1 Post by mattbiernat » Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:49 am

im surfing using konqueror but the font quality is nowhere near IE7. I'm suspecting that the cleartype option is not enabled. anybody knows how to go about enabling it? And that goes for entire KDE and not only konqueror.

Antialiasing in KDE can be enabled through the fonts settings.

KDE Control Center -> Appearance & Themes -> Fonts -> Use anti-aliasing (+ configure button).

If your distro uses the System Settings applet (kubuntu, suse, others?):
System Settings -> Look & Feel / Appearance -> Fonts -> Use anti-aliasing

i did that already but it is still not anywhere close to IE7 or FF. Even the FF in my kubuntu is not the same as FF in windows. i have a feeling that my video card is not being used properly...

Do you have the TrueType fonts installed?

I get georgeous fonts in KDE and GNOME in Fedora 8.

You might need to get the msttcorefonts package installed. Check your distro's package manager.
