I just finished loading SuSE 9.2 on my T42p Q1U..
the install went flawlessly..

it installed linux in a second partition..

but i see that it will need some troubleshooting as it:

1. crashes when it trys to go to the predesktop ibm service partition..

2. when i choose XP as the OS to boot to, it winds up back in linux..

so, since its nearly 5am, i am off to the sack..

Are you using Grub or Lilo? Are you using the NTLoader work-around as well?

1. How far does it get loading the predesktop ibm service partition? It could be the installer for Suse messed with the boundaries of the FAT partition.

2. What is the exact order? Does it start to load windows or go straight into linux? Please post either your /boot/lilo/lilo.conf (I think thats the directory) or /boot/grub/grub.conf and /boot/System.map

I also just got suse 9.2 dual boot installed.

used grub on /boot and ntloader to call grub ---> used dd command in suse and modified boot.ini in xp..

suse installation was smooth. my intel pro 2200 worked right out of box. But I am a little disappointed with the performance. browser worked a bit slower and application starts also a bit slow. It has also happened that after starting the browser, the cursor was 'stuck' meaning when you move the cursor, the old one doesn't disappear -- kinda like a prolonged ghosting effect.

but I must say Suse 9.2 is definitely very user friendly...should make a nice transition from windows.
