Wireless problem on 240x

The 240x in my sig is not functioning properly in Xubuntu with the Intel 2200BG wireless card I installed.

I downloaded the Kwifimanager and Wifi Radar. While my WRT54G router is detected by either, Kwifimanager won't connect at all but Radar shows that I'm either connected to a 169.xx.xx.xx address which means no connection or to localhost (127.0.0.1). When I push "disconnect" button, nothing happens. Basically, I can't disconnect it. Is there anything that can be done about this? Perhaps I need new drivers for the Intel card?

Could it be that the 2200BG is sucking too much power from the minPCI slot? I do have the antennas wired to it, one underneath the palmrest, the other in the screen lid.

I was able to get wireless to work by switching the card to Intel 2100b. The 2200BG works fine in an X31 with Windows XP. So it must be a driver issue in Linux.

I have an Intel 3495 card that didn't want to connect to my school wireless problem. After a little research, I found that if you update the driver that it worked. Maybe this is the same situation with you?

I never used the driver that came with the distro for wireless.
(however the wifi manage applet in fedora 8 is awesome!)
If you decide to install the driver manually, just make sure that you remove the existing IEEE80211, ipw2200, and the firmware packages and download the latest ones from the sourceforge website before you start.
