Xubuntu 8.04 issues on a T61p

#1 Post by mrnaz » Fri May 23, 2008 10:22 am

I've managed to get most of the things that I use working with Xubuntu on my T61p, but there remain

I cannot get the microphone to work. I don't know if it's just muted somewhere (I've checked the ALSA mixer, and it's not muted there) or if it's genuinely not working. Sound output works just fine.

The volume buttons don't work. I have thinkpad_acpi installed, as well as tpb. Brightness control, however, works just fine including the on screen display.

Is there anyone who has any pointers on getting these to work, or can direct me to a resource on installing the latest Xubuntu on a ThinkPad? The latest article I can find is about Ubuntu 7.10, and talks about many things that seem to have changed in 8.04 which is what I am using.

I just checked and my sound is working. I'm on KDE 3.59. I cannot remember if I had to do anything special to get it to work. I know at one time the controls did not work, but I can't remember if I was on KDE 3.59 or KDE 4.0. KDE 4.0 is so buggy in most other ways. I just fell back to KDE 3.59. If you are on 3.59 you should be able to find an answer on Thinkwiki or Kubuntu.com user forums.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks for the reply, can you confirm that your sound output *and* your microphone are working?
