hello there!

i recently started a new job in which cpp and linux are the flavours of choice (coming from a windows/java background, i can safely predict that the next 6 months will be "interesting" :D).

i've been playing with fedora 9 in vmware and feel that i am ready to make the jump on my trusty x60 at home. i've searched through this forum, google and thinkwiki, however cant seem to find many articles on running f9 on x60.

before attempting an installation, i would appreciate and tips/heads up on hardware support, especially:

(1) Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter
(2) Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection
(3) IR/Bluetooth/TPM/Modem
(4) Sound
(5) ...anything else that i've missed out

the most important being (1), as if this does not work, then i would have a hard time in trying to find solutions on the internet  (only method of connection is via wireless)

thanks in advance,
tian

Almost everything works out of the box.

I'm running Fedora 9 on T60p.

be sure to visit fedoraforums, community is great, people really help.

What wireless are you using? Intel or Thinkpad? That would be my only concern. I've used quite a few distros on my T60p with Intel 3945abg and haven't had too many problems. Maybe it's because I never google for help with Thinkpad wireless, but I don't see a lot help/information for that wireless card.

Superego,

I am using an Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter (Aethos chipset?).

I seemed to remember coming across a few articles a while back about these cards being problematic, i wonder if this is still the case?

Thanks,
Tian
