here is a short review. but i am wondering what you guys think of the linux os that comes pre-installed. most of all would it be fully usable (out of the box); for example for playing movies and mp3s.

The EEE 900's default interface is designed to be usable by children. It's almost mobile phone-esque in its layout. It's very basic, but it works.

Good luck playing DVDs though without an optical drive.

If you can, I recommend the 901. The extended battery is also very useful.

If you ever find it too restrictive, there's plenty of people who have hacked it out to open up the OS. Guides should be aplenty on the net.
