T60 docking station and xrandr

#1 Post by elfstone » Thu Sep 25, 2008 9:20 am

Hi,
sorry for my bad english, but I try my best.

I bought a docking station for my T60 with ATI, in order to connect it via DVI to my monitor. Until now i had the monitor connected to vga, and i coud do:

Code: Select all

xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1600x1200 --right-of LVDS
to switch it on. Now i connect via DVI, and change VGA-0 to DVI-0, but it doesnt work. Xrandr doesnt give an errormessag, the desktop gets bigger, but the screen on my monitor stays black.
xrandr can see the external Monitor, it returns:

Code: Select all

DVI-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1600x1200 60.0 + 59.9
It works with with windows, so its not a hardwareproblem, and it also works with the external vga-connector of my docking station. Why not with DVI?

Thx for helping,
Thomas

Hello,
i tested a little more, and found some strange think:
It works with DVI and 1280x1024, but not with 1600x1200.
When using VGA Output, it works with 1600x1200.

In Windows DVI and 1600x1200 works, so its not a hardwareproblem.

Can anybody help me here?
Greetings,
Thomas
