Thinkpad GDM Theme

I put together a quick GDM theme based off of the black thinkpad map.
Get it at:
http://www.mshoup.us/downloads/GDM-Them ... ack.tar.gz
Installation is generally easy. First, just download the file. If you're using Ubuntu, go to System -> Administration -> Login Window. Go to the local tab, and click the Add button. Browse to the location of the theme.
Other distros may vary, refer to community documentation. Must be using GDM.

I haven't installed Linux yet (heresy, I know), but I'd like to know if a Linux theme is the same as a windows one? I mean, did you do icons as well, or is it more of a color scheme with a desktop?

Really excellent GDM Mike. Also got the gnu-linux.png is a superb desktop backgound using Ubuntu 8.04 i386.
I assume that the grey vertical line indicating gmt (my time zone) actually moves to whatever time zone is selected.

Thanks for the compliments! It really took me all of like three minutes to put together.

No, this is just a login window theme. So if you use GDM as your display manager, its your login.

No, I just took the background of the black thinkpad map and just used that for the background.

I installed this the other day. It's very nice-looking. I think I might set the computer to randomly choose between this and the Ubuntu Studio GDM theme, which is also very nice.
Well done, sir. Well done.

Very nice! Is there anyway you can do something like this for GRUB? That would be the finishing touch.

I actually started working on a usplash theme. I don't really want to do a grub theme, as I see grub for the total of 3 seconds I have to cancel the default boot.
If you want to create a grub splash, you just need a 640x480 image in 14 colors... those are the requirements. Save it as XPM and Gzip it.

Sorry, I guess usplash was what I was thinking of. Carry on.

Most of the tar.gz file are .png image files.
Best thing to do is to download and untar it, have a look at typcially 'gnu-linux.png', and you'll see how amazing it is.
