I can only get it to go to 640x480x4, which prevents me from opening graphical dialogs to do things I need to do like setup the network to enable apt.
Does anyone know if there's a way around this? The screen is 800x600 with 64K colors, and it's a Trident Cyber9382
I can't use xfbdev because it doesn't have the fb0 module...

According to ThinkWiki, you have to use the vesa driver.

I've looked, and most of those guides are too outdated, even for DSL.
By the looks of it I could try getting XFree86 4.4.x on there, but that's not something I think I can do on my own...

I am not an expert but I managed to install DSL on my HD by booting from floppy and my screen looks good with 800x600 on my 560Z (230Mhz, 96MB RAM).

I believe I had to use Xfbdev, are u using DSL 4.1.2?

AFAIK the 560Z uses a different chipset.
