Kubuntu power management

Does anyone know how to configure power management on Kubuntu 8.10? My laptop goes to hibernate with no warning when running on battery; it would be nice to get at least some warning. The configuration in Ubuntu is done through a GNOME utility, so I need to find something else for configuring HAL in Kubuntu.

If you have a little icon in the system tray next to the clock at the bottom right, double-click it. Should bring up the Guidance Power Manager.

Hope this helps!

I think what you are looking for is 'KPowersave', it is the equivalent to gnome's power manager. It should be installed, enabled, run at start by default.
