Xorg Failure

#1 Post by bazciscor » Fri Mar 06, 2009 4:03 am

After the upgrade from "etch" to "lenny" several weeks ago, xorg is failing at various instances. It can't be intentionally reproduced. The "error" message indicated looking at the configuration first before filing a bug report; however, it ended with "fatal server error lockup". I've reinstalled xorg, xserver-xorg and all dependencies; but, it's still occurring. No error messages in the xorg log. Any suggestions for a fix?

Please post some information about your setup like: lspci and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Did you also try dpkg --configure xserver-xorg?

Hm, there is no driver in your device section. Is the intel driver installed?

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel
will tell you.
Add a line for it in your xorg.conf in the SectionDevice like that:

Code: Select all

Driver "intel"
Restart X and try if it helped.
