help with grub

#1 Post by TheRedFox » Sat Mar 07, 2009 5:49 pm

Just installed Arch (alongside Windoze) for dual booting. It booted to a grub command-line, rather than the normal menu that I'm used to. how should I proceed to boot either Arch or windows using this system? I might figure out how before I check back here, but I figured I would post just incase I do not.
note: my partitions are as followed (these names, this order)
sda2: /boot (100mb or so), sda1: windows Xp Pro (35gb, I think, possibly 45), extended partition: sda5: swap (526mb), sda6: Arch Linux root partition (somewhere between 15 and 25gb, I'd have to check)

the HD is a 60gb toshiba. I'm not positive I got all of those correct

EDIT:
FIXED. just ran thru the installation in the wrong order
Frankenpad X31.5 (X31 casing, X32 motherboard) 1.8ghz Pentium M processor, 1gb RAM,
60gb HDD dual booting Arch GNU/Linux && Windows XP

Try to find the config for grub.

Code: Select all

configfile (hd0,1)/grub/menu.lst
