Hi, anybody running latest Ubuntu on T60 and having a problem with trackpoint speed/sensitivity?
I've been running Ubuntu on T60 since 7.10 and never had any problems with this. I upgraded the system to both 8.04 and later to 8.10. Still, no problems with trackpoint. This time I decided to do a fresh install of 9.04 and the trackpoint is very slow. At the same time, touchpad works great out of the box (including default speed/sensitivity).
I tried to change the settings through gnome mouse preferences, but they hardly affect the trackpoint (the changes in speed/sensitivity are very minor). Same settings under intrepid affect the trackpoint as expected.
I'm a bit tired of hacking to get such a basic functionality. Trackpoint is unusable in jaunty for me and I don't use touchpad at all.

Any other users with similar problem?

P.S. I'm aware of hacks from thinkwiki etc.

I used X61 with 9.04 and no problem with the track point.

When I was running the beta last month, the trackpoint worked fine, but couldn't get scrolling working. The trackpad worked normal.

Yes, scrolling is a known issue, but I can't find anything about the default speed/sensitivity.
Anyways, I finally used the trick from thinkwiki and it's been working fine, but that's not the way the basic equipment should be adjusted... I feel that Ubuntu support for T60 is degrading over time.

Just loaded 9.04 onto an X61s, working well 'out of the box'. The trackpoint seems to be working normally, but there is no trackpad on the x-series.

What other things are causing you to feel that Ubuntu support is slipping for the T60?

This the first time I am running Ubuntu on a portable system and was surprised at the easy/out of box experience on this X61s. I have previously use Ubuntu on Desktops only.

Well, the most annoying thing for me is a broken mapping of special keys, like volume up/down etc. I remember it worked great, with OSD and all in some version before intrepid. In intrepid it got totally messed up, where e.g. volume down key locks the screen. And it never got fixed... Fortunately, in jaunty it actually works. No OSD for volume up/down/mute but at least they do what they were supposed to do. Good enough for me.
Also, the fingerprint reader worked in Hardy in both terminal and gui. AFAIR it did not in intrepid. I haven't checked it in jaunty yet.

My point is, many things worked in the past and they got broken later and we had to wait a long time to get the functionality back.

Still, this is my preferred distro, I've been using it since January 2005. It's a good pair - ubuntu on the development laptop, debian on the production server.

Hmm, I noticed a few minutes earlier, that 'restart' no longer restarts, but logs out. I'm 100% sure it worked yesterday
