ath5k driver, wicd, wpa encryption [SUCCESS!!!]

got a cardbus wireless adaptor that uses the atheros AR5001X+ chipset and works quite nicely (rangewise) with the ath5k driver (which may or may not be related to madwifi, this is also something I'd like to know)

my main question, however, is "what option should I choose in wicd to get it to use WPA encryption?"
I tried using madwifi, but it just doesn't connect to WPA networks that way.
I tried rmmod ath5k modprobe ath_pci, but it wouldn't show up that way in iwconfig. help?

I GOT IT WORKING!!!! FSCK YEAH! (<--there's a little linux pun, right there...)
just needed to use ath5k module and wext for wpa-supplicant. wicd made it work just fine.

:D

Very nice. Now if they could only get that working for my Cisco 350 then I'd be relieved.

yeah, unfortunately the airo driver doesn't support WPA which is super lame.
I'm probably going to try to get a new wireless adaptor (internal) eventually. probably Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG, because it has 802.11a/b/g, and it's cheaper than the IBM wirless adapter. I could get anything, but it'd be nice for the status light to work.
