What Distro?

I've been trialing Xubuntu which if you can accept none of the power management/screen saver features work is rather good. Also once in a blue moon the kernel will panic, this only need happen at a awkward moment to dent the enthusiasm for what is otherwise a solid distro.

Can anyone suggest the better distros from the other big Linux stables? Namely Redhat, Fedora and Suse. Ideally something for older hardware that works out the box.

Actually, after running the latest version it works a lot better. Hibernate/sleep still do not function, but I can live without that.

Mint is based on Ubuntu and looks better in my opinion.

Take a look at my signature. Both work fine and everything start working out of the box.

I used version 7.10, 8.04 and 8.10 with an old T30, never had a problem. Never had a crash...

Cheers
