R51e strange looping sample-sound w/ubuntu

From what I've been reading this is a problem w/ the ATIIXP config. I just updated to a new kernel, there were new lib stuff (not quite sure what those do), and assorted tidbits. I rebooted and I don't hear that maddening looping sound. It sounded like the intro to ubuntu but it kept repeating a 1ms sample- over and over

Hopefully this is a sign of Karmic and the sheer awesomeness of Linux

Just thought I'd let the other....uh two R51e users know
