Hello,
I am thinking about switching from W7 to Ubuntu 10.04 Linux. My question is, how this distro run on this machine with FireGL V3200 graphics? Do you use opensource driver or is possible to use also proprietary ATI driver? Which of them is powerful - I guess it's proprietary driver? Last time, when I ran 10.04 from LiveCD I got about 7500 frames per 5 seconds in glxgears utility, is this good test result? Because in that case was opensource driver in use.

Thank you!

I don't have any benchmarks, but as you can see in my sig. I'm using both Win7 and Ubuntu Lucid in my T43p, both run great. I'm not sure which driver Linux installed by default. If you can tell me how I can run a benchmark on my machine.

So far I never bothered benchmarking because I can do the same with both OS without any restrictions (appart from watching 1028p videos).

Cheers

edit: it also boots quite fast: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=87823

Hi Tasurinchi,

you can run the benchmark simply, apply glxgears command in console. Two gear wheels will appear and approximately after 5 seconds you will get fps result.

Cheers

Back again, sorry for the delay. I've run glxgears and the best result (out of ten) was 6784 fps. The first one was the worst at 6210 fps.

Hope this helps...

Cheers
