Boot error

Hi,
I just put Ubuntu 10.04 on a USB stick, and when I put it in my IBM ThinkPad T40, it won't install it, the screen is just black, and it says Boot error. Why dose it do that? How can I install Ubuntu using a USB stick? I formatted it to FAT32, should I keep it at that, or should I format it to FAT? Thanks!

Did you use
UnetBootin to set up your USB stick with Ubuntu and make it bootable? That's not the only way to do it, but it seems to be the easy way.

First, not all USB-Sticks are bootable, I have a new 8GB Stick I bought cheap and it's not boot capable!

Make sure your one is.
Second, how did you put Linux on it? I know Ubuntu has a built-in function to put it in a stick, but I never use it. Instead of it I'd recommend you to follow the guidelines on this
site
My 0.02 cents...
Cheers

Thanks for your input, but I think I might just go back to Windows XP.
