Linux last.

Xp will replace the MBR without asking you, Win7 seems to behave the same (or maybe I missed an option). Ubuntu will create multiboot menu with every OS installed automatically. (and even if he misses some OS, you can edit the bootloader config when you need)

Have you thought about virtualization? Depending on what you are using Windows 7 and XP for, you could just install Linux and then use KVM (virtualization that is built into the Linux kernel) or VirtualBox to virtualize your Windows installations under Linux. This way you can stay in Linux all the time and start Windows up in a separate window anytime you want to use it.

I'm not familiar with it. And my machine is quite old, don't know if the efficiency is ok in the virtual machine.
thank you for the idea, maybe I'll look into it.

First Win XP, as it does not recongnize either Win 7 or Ubuntu.
Then Win 7, as it knows about Win XP.
Then Ubuntu, which should add both Windows installations to it#s boot menu, as already mentioned.
