X31 Standby under Fedora

#1 Post by rpug » Sun Aug 22, 2010 2:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a ThinkPad X31 that I am running Fedora 13 on. When I put it into standby, the LCD backlight stays on. Also, when I wake the machine up it just hangs at a black screen.

I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I figured I'd ask before spending hours searching for the fix. It's harder to find such fixes for an older laptop :(

Maybe worth noting that I am using ACPI and Gnome Power Manager.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yay, figured it out by adding 'nomodeset' to the kernel parameter in /boot/grub/menu.lst.
