X31 Standby under Fedora

Hi everyone,
I have a ThinkPad X31 that I am running Fedora 13 on. When I put it into standby, the LCD backlight stays on. Also, when I wake the machine up it just hangs at a black screen.
I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I figured I'd ask before spending hours searching for the fix. It's harder to find such fixes for an older laptop
Maybe worth noting that I am using ACPI and Gnome Power Manager.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
