Distro Recommendation for an X200

I am looking for a Disto recommendation that works well on an X200 running an external LCD via dock/displayport. If anyone has that working well please let me know what your distro is. I have been having many issues with (what I once thought was) my favorite distro Linux Mint 9. Windows 7 works flawlessly on this setup.

I am having the exact same display issue as I had on Linux Mint 9 on Fedora 13. So the problem is not distro specific.

We are running Arch Linux with an external monitor and it is functioning well.
