Hi guys, i have a very strange problem with my x60, standard t2400/2gb/60gb 7200rpm/3G upgraded with 3Gb DDR2 ( 2Gb kingston 667+ 1Gb Corsair 667 ) and 250 GB WD 5400RPM...
I have installed windows 7 professional and ubuntu 10.04, both o.s. works perfecly, but i have a small problem when i switch from linux to windows: if i shut down in ubuntu and restart with windows, the os won't load properly but only in safe mode and with non working trackpad. The only solution is to restart by using keyboard and then reload windows.
Sometimes it won't even load windows, and i have to force shutdown keeping pressed the power button.
This problem appear only when i reboot or shutdown from ubuntu to windows, once loaded properly both os works FLAWLESSY!
If i start with ubuntu then restart in ubuntu, start windows then restart windows, start windows then restart in linux all works perfecly.
Any help?

P.s. Sorry for my english, i hope you could understand what i've writed, if not feel free to ask me to repeat

If you Hibernate (to disk), when you restart (press the power button), you must make sure you choose the same OS to boot that you Hibernated to avoid problems. If you shutdown, it should not make any difference which OS you choose to boot when you turn your computer back on.

I had the same problem and I don't think it was caused by hibernating (I think I didn't hibernate W7). I've solved it by deleting Ubuntu ;-) My X60s was getting too hot with it anyway..

When I hibernate to disk, I don't get to choose at all. I MUST go back in the OS I hibernated in. You get to choose on yours?

@OP - I have an X60 with W7 Starter and Mint 9, but I've never had that problem. Have you tried looking through the Windows Error Reporting to see if it gives more details on the problem once it boots to Safe Mode?

Got a similar issue with my X60 using Win7/Linux Mint. When I shutdown Mint and start Win7, it will boot but sometimes I get a black screen the moment Windows switch to the log on screen. I hear the start up sound, but screens remains dark. I have to start up the TP again (by pressing the power button for a couple of seconds), and at the second try everything will work normally.

It's a really weird issue :??:
