flash drive Ubuntu

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Sat Nov 13, 2010 11:22 pm

I put Ubuntu 9.10 on a flash drive with Universal USB Installer. When I booted it with my x201 it flashed a lot of code and then I heard the Ubuntu drum roll and then ... nothing. I waited about 5 minutes, but all I ever had was a grey screen. Any ideas?

Edit: I just tried it on my T61 and it worked fine. I'm guessing it has something to do with the display (1280x800), and since I wasn't able to create a "persistent" installation on the flash drive I used (1GB), there's not much point in messing with settings... I've got a 10.10 disc coming; maybe that will work. :|

Edit #2: I just found this thread. More confirmation that I need a newer distro... Life on the cutting edge! :P

Yeah, it most likely has something to do with 9.10 not having a newer GPU driver for the x201 to display on the first boot up. The 10.10 may just work for you.
