linux mint 9 and a t22...

anyone have experience booting/loading linux mint 9 (gnome or kde) on a t22?
for reference... 1ghz p3, 512mb ram, 1400x1050 lcd. i recently had wary puppy 5 on it, but wanted to play around with a more full-featured distro

i'm stting here listening to the dvd drive thrash back and forth, presumably reading/loading, but so far nothing beyond the 5-dot progress thing is on the screen. both the gnome and kde disks work fine on a t43, so i don't think it's due to bad dvd burns.

tia.

I also got the same thing on a pair of A22's. Similar vintage machines. Never did get them to load. Sold them maxed out with W2k on them.

I have dealt with the same thing also. Once in a while a different CD drive will work, but usually all that can be done is install the OS with the hard drive in a newer machine, then transfer the drive to the old T22. It might just boot then.

Try adding the boot parameter 'noapic'.

i was booting a live cd, so how to add the boot param?

anyway... i gave up on the t22 and installed on my t43 instead. now, to play around and learn some new stuff!

I know nothing about linux mint but I've experienced a similar problem with ubuntu - where the default X-win drivers wouldn't work with the GPU chip of the computer on which I was trying to do the install. Switching to a 'more primitive?' text-based install got things going.
