Function Keys not working in MEPIS 11

I'm very much enjoying MEPIS 11 on my T60 - everything pretty much worked out of the box, excepting the Fn keys. I can get sleep and hibernate from the kicker, and assume I could control external vga output from the system settings panel, but it would be nice if all this was available through Fn keys. Anyone had success here?
