Yes. It very well could.

Unless Lenovo demonstrates the good sense not to lock their customers out of their own machines, and unless said customers make it clear to Lenovo that this is not acceptable, it's quite possible that this will happen.

Now would be a good time to get in contact with Lenovo and remind them that while Secure Boot is a good feature to have, it absolutely *cannot* be implemented in a way that would prevent customers from using non-Windows operating systems.

And yes, this is the only such advocacy post I will ever make here.

I have no 'inside knowledge', but I doubt that Secure Boot will prevent Linux on ThinkPads - unless your company enables Secure Boot in the BIOS and sets the Supervisor Password to prevent BIOS changes.

The worry is that Secure Boot might not be optional. Yes, if you disable it all is well -- but you'd need to be able to disable it first, and there's no word from Phoenix as to whether it will be optional, and no word from Microsoft as to whether it will be required to be always-enabled.
