Vote Bill Morrow as System Admin of the Year!!

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Wed Oct 25, 2006 6:32 am

Hey guys and gals,

Let's get together and vote Bill Morrow as the 2006 System Admin of the year.

Here is what I posted about him:
tfflivemb2 wrote:Bill has been hosting and administrating this forum on his own accord for about 10 years. He now has 3 admins that assist him. If it weren't for him and his forum many Thinkpad users would be lost. He provides a great resource and connection point for us Thinkpad users. He works on the forum verifying each member before activating them, due to recent attacks on the site, until about 5am every morning.

Mr BillMorrow has been hosting thinkpad forum for years. His forum has proved to be one of the finest among all forums i had ever come across.

Recently, thinkpad forum has suffered from some malicious attacks since April 2006 till now and Mr Morrow is the one and only one who had taken the initiative to filter the new users one by one everyday till very late and he did not even get at least a 6 hours sleep everyday. He wanted to make sure everyone in his forum is safe and sound.

I had fought with his moderators in the beginning due to some accusations and BillMorrow is the one who counselled me when i need him. When i private message him and ask him questions, he will always reply me even though some questions are stupid and lame. *blush*

Mr Morrow has been the one and only one forking out the money from his own pocket to host this wonderful forum and get rid of all the ads and spams.

Mr Morrow\\\'s forum has provided lots of wonderful thinkpad informations and etc...

He is one of the most rarest admin i had ever seen. He forgives, he is friendly, he is very honest and he is very professional. I had learnt lots and lots of things from him and his forum. His moderators and admins are well choosen and very professional & very up to standard.

One word for Mr Morrow: EXCELLENT

Nice forum and i hoped that my vote can make a difference and hoped that he will be crowned as Sysadmin of the Year 2006, 2007, 2008 and the next following years.
Thank you very much, Mr BillMorrow

Can i also vote for James(JHEM)? James has also been working very hard for this forum keeping it clear of spams and junks. Too bad i cannot vote for the moderators... :-(

voted and proud to. This site has bailed me out so many times it would take too long to list all the things I have been helped with. Not to mention the awesome deals on TP's and various accessories. I am well pleased with the time I have spent on here, definitely not a waste of time at all.

Bill originally started Thinkpads.com as a community effort to provide and share information with Thinkpad users. That said, it has become one of the best support forums out there thanks to very efficient and orderly administration process. Since it's inception, it has been providing assistance, a market, and professional support to those using Thinkpad hardware and accessories. I have been actively working with computers since ~1993 and have been involved in a variety of "user-powered" forums for large projects on subject matters of both hardware and software. Yet Thinkpads.com is literally head and shoulders above other technical communities, even large Linux forums, in its level of acquired technical accumen, professional attitude, and dedication to hard work and thought applied to arrive at the resolution at any given problem. Because of this, and other such well-round characteristics of the forum and Bill, the forum is an absolute pleasure to read and participate to the point of actual relaxation; when is the last time that anybody could say an in-depth technical hardware/software forum was actually *relaxing* to read and understand? Those are few and far between from what I have experienced. Bill has, just on average alone, put in 6-8 hours of work on the forum per day. This is not to mention the many times Bill has stayed up late into the night perusing the forum and answering questions. Not only that, but Bill has assembled an extremely effective and efficient group of admins and moderators who help out in day to day operations, continually preserving the nature of the forums and sharing a wealth of information with the users; sometimes going to the lengths of helping the users one-on-one with hardware installs, writing articles on the creation of independent back up USB Flash mediums for the users, customizing BSD or Linux (sometimes even OS/2) installs, and even with programs allowing direct hardware control of the cooling system and wireless card data for the benefit of the users. The only other places I have seen such quality of work and people are either research/academic or business institutions and not always for free usage, like the Thinkpads.com forums. :-)
There is what I wrote in recommendation of Bill; really a good idea, thanks for bringing that up tfflivemb2. Everybody in the Team that has had an active role in the upkeep and preservation of the Thinkpads.com forums have done a great job. :D
