Very cool T61
Notebookreview claimed that T61 will get cooler by ~30% compare to T43.

Re: Very cool T61
Thanks for the info. However, all they can really say is that the particular T43 they tested was warmer than the particular T61 they tested. I bet each model has a wide range of temperatures. For these measurements to be more informative, they need to sample many more units and provide group data.gunston wrote:ThinkPad T43 (2.0GHz Pentium M) 57C 68C

There was an interesting post over in lenovos offical blog addressing this very thing, and tells you a little bit more about what was done.
from the article:
"As I mentioned in my last post, with this generation of ThinkPad notebooks, we’ve significantly improved both our thermals and our acoustics, meaning our systems run both cooler AND quieter than ever before. "[/url]

It is unfair to compare the T61 and the T43, which had known heat issues. A comparision with a T60 or a T60p will be fair imho.
I have a feeling we will see that T61 runs about 3-4Cs cooler and not more.

I agree. I'm hoping for someone to do a detailed comparison between T60/p and T61.gator wrote:It is unfair to compare the T61 and the T43, which had known heat issues. A comparision with a T60 or a T60p will be fair imho.

I believe the test comparison was fairly well. On NotebookReviews, the T42p review says the fan stays on all the time (whispering) and is indeed right.
In terms of really knowing if the T61 is cooler than the T60p, I'd say it's mandatory a future test: the newest T61p vs T60p. If Lenovo are correct the T61p should be cooler. However we all know the hottest component on a performance Thinkpad is the GPU. Hopefully the T61p GPU keep its temperature lower than the V52x0

Why is my P1 Gen 7 so much better on battery? Cool, quiet, fast — but not on AC.
