Z60M Display Problem
Z60M Display Problem
My Lcd display just started acting funny all of a sudden. If you open it up it seems fine. But if you put just a little pressure on the top left corner after a few seconds the lower third of the display gets blue and green vertical streaks and lines. Sometimes they will stay until you pull on the display just a small amount. They will also go away if you push on the plastic lcd bezel just above the blue thinkvantage button. The pattern is only on the lower third of the display. Everything else seems fine. Any Ideas?? Thanks

I purchased this particular Z60m from hamrad via the Marketplace last week and it arrived today. Will probably get the screwdriver out over the weekend (dpending whether I take it or the T42 on holidays with me) and open it up to see whether I can properly diagnose the issue. Despite the screen issue as mentioned, I am very pleased with the overall look and build of the Z60m.

The musical chairs continues, I recently bought this laptop from Kristian.
The end result was yes, it is an LCD panel issue, not the ribbon cable; there must be a frayed connection somewhere within the panel that becomes an intermittent contact when it is flexed. I found that by pulling apart, reseating, and re-assembling the top half assembly with a tightening of the screws (making it a bit stiffer? There was a good 1/4+ a turn tighter each screw could go), the problem is rare enough (for now) to not worry about having to replace the panel.
