My Thinkpad 240

#1 Post by Tasurinchi » Mon Dec 20, 2010 4:08 pm

This is my new acquisition. An oldtimer! Didn't have the time yet to clean it, but the pictures hide the dirt

Enjoy!

Nice machine. It looks new. Almost like it was kept in a museum or something.

The pictures were done without flash on purpose, to hide the dirt :D

The comparison photos were shot after I cleaned it. All in all it's in good state, there's a broken part at the back, but that's it.

Sweeet!

Which ultralight from the past would you have - a 240 or a 560?

I haven't typed so much yet, but the keyboard quality is great. Only "complain" is that there no dedicated keys for Home, End, PgUp & PgDn, you have to press the Fn key and use the arrow keys for that.

Unfortunately I haven't had the time to play around with it :( , after cleaning I put the little lady in the drawer, I have to find some time to re-install Win98, and I need to check if I still have a box of old 3.5" disks around.

Cheers

I had both. The X40's and X41t's keyboards are larger, and so it's easier to type on them than on the 240's.

I've read that here in this forum, but I'm probably going to use the 240 as a kind of retro-game platform. I'm sure I have some old Lucasart games CDs/Disks somewhere. It would be even interesting to see if I could install Win3.1 just for the sake of testing

Nice little 240 you got there. I've always wanted one of those. Plenty of power for some retro stuff.
