X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
I got this X60s two months ago. I had to wait for some pieces to arrive. I turned it on 2 months ago without a power adapter and the battery was green. I turned it on a month later with a power adapter attached and it quickly turned green.
Today, I connected an X6 Ultrabase and it blinked yellow.
I disconnected the Ultrabase and it still blinks yellow.
It's been plugged in for a few hours and it still blinks yellow.
Win7 says it's 99% available, plugged-in but not charging.
When I unplug it, it still blinks yellow.

No, I don't have that installed yet. Win7 says it's plugged-in, 99% charged and not charging.

Re: X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
X6x series batteries are often of garbage-quality...
My guess is that you need a new one.
Don't run the machine with that battery installed because you might damage the charging circuit on the motherboard.
Good luck.

Get the 8-cell one. You should be able to get a new or almost new one (original) for less than $50.ParatoOptimal wrote:Which battery/# cells/FRU should I look for on ebay?

Re: X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
don't see why not.
some of my older machines run at a capped cpu speed below max with the battery removed. haven't tried it on any of my newer machines.

Re: X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
It will run just fine with no battery inserted.
Way safer than running it with a defective one installed.

Re: X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
The only thing you could encounter is if you have a machine which can pull more than 65W with a 65W power adapter. Very unlikely scenario, and the worst thing that can happen is a crash with no damage.ParatoOptimal wrote:Can I run it on the power adapter WITHOUT a battery in place?

Re: X60s Battery Light Constantly Blinks Yellow
I don't think you need to worry, the most I can pull with my T61 is about 40 watts. The system will safegaurd against over-drawing from the power supply (but it will probably downclock i.e. my T61 runs at 1.2ghz on the 65w adapter w/o a battery (out of 1.8ghz))
