linux video issues on T23
I tried number of slightly older and current linux distributions and all displayed same video issues that I get is half is displays fine but other half is blank. I know this T23 features S3 savage mobile. I even tried VGA only, with no result, any fixes to this problem?
Funny thing, I had tried same version of one of the distribution on thinkpad 600 and desktop supported neomagic perfectly.
Cheers, Jason

Re: linux video issues on T23
Have you tried Wary Puppy Linux? Also, are you sure that the display or video chip is not faulty? You can plug in an external monitor to help verify this.

Re: linux video issues on T23 update
I tried debian 8 xfce and this worked well on T23 but slow to install and fair stutters in youtube movies yet playable. Have to yet determine the neomagic video chipset is recongized properly.
More on different topic regarding processors types vs same debian 8 in new thread later.
Cheers, thinkpadcollection.

Re: linux video issues on T23
Debian 8 has dropped support of older video graphics card such as the one on T23 (s3 savage).
When i upgraded to Debian 8 on my t23 earlier this year, i can only get 800x600 screen resolution on a 1024x768 native screen. after much research, found out that's the case.

Re: linux video issues on T23
After lots of time and effort spent trying to figure this issue out, I decided to wait till Debian 9 came out to try it.
My screen resolution is now fully 1024x768 with xfce on Debian 9 Stretch.
Enjoy
