New T520 has arrived...

#1 Post by MikalE » Fri Sep 25, 2015 10:58 am

This T520 has the 2620M i7 2.7 Ghz processor and is noticeably faster than the i5 2450M that is in my E530 and the M540 that is in the T510. Though the screen resolution between the T510 and T520 is the same, the T20 is noticeably sharper. Probably different TFT.

Memory is 8 GB and has the nVidia 4200M option. Not much of a gaming card, but great for business or PS. The drive is a 500GB 7200 RPM unit. It came pre-loaded with MS Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and all of the Lenovo utilities. It was like buying a new computer, and in fact, had this come to me in a Lenovo box, I'm not sure I would have been able to tell the difference.

There is not a mark on it anywhere, including the top cover. No wear on the trackpad nor scratches or even a hint of a blemish on the palmrest. No key-shine, nothing.

It also came with the FPR, camera, fax modem, SD card reader, and Smartcard slot.

This is a wonderful machine for only $350, shipping included.

Nobody will be grumpy about picture sizes in this specific Picture-forum!
Did you read those rules (section 5)?

Wow! That machine looks pristine - no glossy mousepad, no worn down keys, nice chassis. Congrats on a great find!

I really does look new. I couldn't believe it when I opened the box.

Some corporate person I guess had this and never used it. Awesome machine for the money.

It looks really nice. I got a couple T510 models that look almost brand new. They have these corporate machines that they have on lease or buy but never use.

That is one nice looking T520 you have there. I hope it serves you well for many years to come.

I am 95% that is the machine I am going to upgrade to from my T410.

Thank you. The T520 has been running well. The whole T series in my collection (I just used that description for my computers for the first time) has been running well and doing the jobs I bought them for.

No complaints about any of them.

My nephew should be very happy with the E530 he's getting for Christmas.

Just got one of these off eBay for just under $300, identical specs to yours. Just missing the fingerprint reader; and they weren't clear as to if the Nvidia option was added...... So excited for it to arrive, my T520 is to replace my poor T500 that's suffering from hinge wobble and SKS (Squishy Keyboard Syndrome). Call me picky, but the keyboard and bezel squish ruined my modern thinkpad experience, as I've had a t40, t41, t43, and an r51. Hoping my T520 will prove me wrong. :)

Welcome to the Forum.

Ever heard of these KB-brackets against your SKS?
45N5367 T/W500 KBD support bracket for Integ. model, 2 pieces
45N5368 T/W500 KBD support bracket for Hybrid model, 2 pieces

They look like this:

I've got those that I know of. I'd wager my problems lay with the weight saving keyboard backplate, and some of the plastic clips (both behind where the battery sits and the ones that clip into the metal bracket under the keyboard) do not sit properly. I've gone as far as using duct tape to keep the backplate secured to the motherboard better; but it did not help unfortunately.
