701c model differences?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

I was just curious but what is the difference between 2TU, 5TU and 7TU models besides the location of the screen and the placement of the 701c text.

Well that would explain why I have a 540MB hard drive :) . Why did IBM do this? Were the models available at the same time?

Yup. Lenovo does the same. You have sub models available for quick shipping or custom orders that end with CTO.

The 701's were all available from March 1995 except for the 7SU/7TU available in September 1995
It was for different CPU/HDD/Display type combinations.
