Removing supervisor password

#1 Post by karotlopj » Wed Jun 14, 2017 3:10 am

I have a T40 with a Supervisor password set. Is there anything which can be done to remove it?

You will need to replace the system board for that one...

I fail to understand why anyone would sell or give away a system and forget they set an inaccessible password so the next owner has to go through this sort of thing.

I would figure it might look a little out of shape if it fell of a lorry :)

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Someone was getting rid of three old ThinkPads at a car boot sale for £10. I'm sure they weren't aware of the supervisor password being set, but it was only set on one them, and that has been canibalised anyway, so no regrets.

Well anyone wanting a challenge can try following the instructions here:-

It's a bit too geeky for me, and I don't have the confidence or ability to follow the instructions.
