Well, I checked it out the other day and looks like fitting a 15.x" in one of those would be even harder. I should be getting a x200, a t520 and t530 pretty soon and dirt cheap from my job for future projects. But for now I'll just finish the sata3 bypass on the dock to the msata slot. Going slow, I'm still learning pcb design.
Would it surprise you if I said I thought about it for a while ? Just shorten the plastic part at the top of the lid, losing the webcam and antennas. This is needed to get rid of the curve part in the bezel. It would be like adding a "screen slice" instead of the battery slice . And 3 screens would require a Ivy cpu swap, stealing the laptop's DP port in addition to the 2 dock ones, a custom dual fhd modchip + coreboot patch to enable brightness without dummy display. Still "technically" possible.

While we're at it, why not take the electronics from the battery slice, fit them in the case + 6 x 10280 cells in the 2.5" enclosure to enable hot swapping the main one ? With some minor mod to the hdd cage it could probably all fit in a 11mm ssd enclosure with repurposed sata connector to connect.

Oh man, yours has much more room than mine does. I removed that white plastic and it's still glass on magnesium for the test fit. I had to remove all the clips to the bezel, and as a result, it no longer clips in on the sides. I'll find a hack to make it work, but it's not pretty.

Not much more room on my side, had to cut lots of bezel clips as well, carefully file everything on both sides of the lid. I'll to put thin double sided tape to hold the sides of the bezel down.
I wanted to know how it was by hand, I only used x-acto + metal ruler + file. Overall I found it to be quite easy. Being used to plexiglas cutting, this plastic is a joy to work with. Takes 10-24 strokes depending on the force applied. Hint : go slow !
I have the bottom cut done minus rounding, but then problems started on the left. I have like ~4mm until the display area and the middle rubber feet goes up to 5mm. I'll have to relocate it and find a way to make the old "hole" look somewhat nice. I'll try round / slope the edge aggressively all around to level it up. Shortest on the right is right around 4mm. That should leave me with a 2mm black bar on the right. Better that than unequal bezel I guess.
Adafruit ruler for anyone wondering, I like that thing.
Enough for today, I might try more cuts tomorrow.

Not sure how useful it is to you, but I was given an ideaPad 710i the other day with a 1080p IPS screen that was quite nice. The screen is really thin and flexible so it might lend itself better to being shoehorned into an X330. I haven't looked in great detail at the specs but it seems to be a 30pin edp and it's 13.3in.

The only problem I see with the IdeaPad LCD is that consumer laptops like to enclose the LCD like it's in a nuclear bomb shelter. Get that sucker out, and you may have your self a nice LCD to put in there. I prefer just browsing panelook to compare the outlines than searching for a panel from a specific laptop. The best candidate I found so far is a LP133WF1 SPA1, 297.3mm wide. Port is on the correct side, the only problem is to know if it's possible to relocate the controller board at the back of the panel to save ~13mm vertically. If someone wants to get one to figure it out, go ahead, I'm out of cash to throw out the window

The only problem with QHD is that it won't work with 3rd gen Intel, unless you tune down refresh rate in the firmware.

Got it, it's a LQ133M1JW11. Not even listed on panelook. Found it by luck on google images while checking the LQ133M1JW07 and was able to figure out the model. Ordered one, here we go again I guess...

Yeah, I'm so used to them having everything I need. I didn't think about looking elsewhere before manually checking their ~80 models of 13.3 1080p for ones with smaller outlines (or none specified), then checking against google images.
But it matches the pictures of the disassembled one from the German forums. I especially like how so many people were so confident about it being a 03, even as I said multiple times that all those pictures didn't match what I had. See, you were wrong all along At least I'll get to have both to compare the results.
I'm doing both, had the spare display assembly anyway.
Look at phange's Edit your lol ! last link. That panel is 6mm narrower than a LQ133T1JW01, the 1440p equivalent of the 03. Can be fitted WITHOUT panel mod, just lid trimming and possibly room for the bezel side clips !
Edit : Don't quote me on that last one yet, as I can't find official specs for the size. Pretty confident though.

Still missing the rubber feet on the left, I'll just try to move it to the left.
Waiting for the hardware store to open so I can finish it with 600 and 1200 sandpaper. I'm also missing ~.1mm on the left that I need to sand down.
I'll try to do better with the other panel & build a holding rig for the bezel to do it on the cnc. Next weekend if the panel is arrived by then.
I mentioned in the past I might build / sell some. I still might if the W11 fits like I think it will, but I won't for W03's. It doesn't feel sturdy enough for me to be able to offer any form of warranty on those.

That W03 panel modding and fitting is nightmare stuff. And the unequal bezel really annoys me. If the W11 fits without modding the panel, it won't be that hard. Lid takes some time, but since it will be hidden you can go fast with a dremmel and leave small imperfections. Bezel would then become the hardest part. First cut with x-acto is pretty straightforward, as long as your measure correctly. You can keep ~.5mm over to be sanded later to make sure you don't overcut. Sides are really narrow at that point, I'd suggest clamping them in an vise. Use some wood to extend it to the full length of the side. Then it can be sanded / finished with whatever sanding block you got. Keeping the length of the block to around 75% of the length of the side will keeping the sanding straight.
I didn't really look at 16:10 before now, but a quick search told me there aren't much panels available if you want 1920x1200. The HSD122BUW1-A00 would be too small to fill the bezel. If you're the crazy type, a LP129QE1-SPA1 could probably be fitted with the board relocated at the back, but losing the webcam. This one falls short of filling the bezel as well. And you'd need a nb51 board at that resolution. If you get one of those boards you can checkout what's available for 13.3" 2540x1600. They don't have much info on outline size, but I don't think we can make it narrow enough to fit. You could probably guess by looking at pictures and comparing to the active area ( 286.08 × 178.8 ).
