Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
Im pretty sure you want the T500 discrete heatsink.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

... suggest you see e.g. the thread Frankenpad best heatsink and the many links pointed to therein.
Also (just a friendly suggestion!), please try (yourself!) to use either the search-function of this forum, or Google for e.g. "Frankenpad + heatsink" or the like. This topic has been covered extensively in the past, so you should be able to dig up all the info you need, on your own, provided of course that you're willing to put a little bit of effort into it.

Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
I don't think so... The T61(p) heatsink is considered a much better fit (T500 heatsink creates a bulge). However there is some suggestion that a T500 fan fitted to a T61(p) heatsink is a benefit!
Before you jump down my throat... I have searched this topic multiple times. If you search yourself you'll find that not many threads actually reference FRUs (let alone pictures), they just say "T6x heatsink". And have a search of ebay and notice how many different variants of heatsinks and FRUs there are...Johan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 3:10 pm... suggest you see e.g. the thread Frankenpad best heatsink and the many links pointed to therein.

To further contribute to the thread (and board), which I usually do, rather than the typical new user who posts redundant threads...
The 42W2028 (T61p discrete 15.4") heatsink fits in the T60p 15" chassis.
- I currently have it installed with the T61p retention bracket, however, the T60p chassis doesn't have a screw mount for the right hand screw on the L shaped bracket.
- It concerns me that this causes a lack of contact with the GPU but I am not 100% sure.
- Temps are around 50 (CPU) and 70 (GPU) with web browsing.
- Currently mounted with Merom/T60p board, T61(p) board coming later
- The original T60p bracket fits more snugly, but creates a large bulge which contacts on the keyboard.
A great thread. /viewtopic.php?t=105114
I am happy to post there instead if it's OK to necopost.

Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
Yup, it's this one. From all the tests I've done it's way better yet a little bit loud compered to T500 fan.
T9300+fx570m = 75/75C when gaming; ambient ~22.
This fan fits into 14,1" standard and 15,1" standard for sure. No idea about 15,6" though...

Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
This one as in 42W2028? Sorry, I need to confirm
P.S. Did you use the T61 or T60p retention bracket?

Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
Need to remove my KB first, will confirm the FRU later on today
A modded T60p bracket does the job, however I did put ome extra spacer under it to generate a little more pressure (if we are speaking of the same part).

Re: Best heatsink for T601p Frankenpad
This is the T60P one - is that the same as yours? Note the filing to allow for the larger T61p heatsink.
