want to buy X60s 22 flush battery

#1 Post by TPFanatic » Sat Nov 04, 2017 11:51 pm

I have an X60s slim laptop with the huge 22++ 8 cell sticking out in all the wrong places. I'd like the totally flush 22 battery seen here.

Thanks.

The 22 is not what you are looking for. It is the cylindrical 4-cell, which is flush with the back, but raises the bottom of the laptop. You need the Thinkpad Battery 31.

Good luck finding one; won't be easy. ;)

Thanks for telling me. I see what you mean.

What's the point of having an X60s if the battery makes it not slim?

It's still slightly lighter, cooler and gets better battery life than the full-voltage version. Especially important with the low capacity of these 4-cells. The prismatic 4-cell is 28Wh vs 37Wh, which negates the savings of the low-voltage CPU.

Is there a prismatic 8 cell?

I both like the laptop slim, but I like battery life so much more. :| Guess it'll be a new old 8 cell for me.

I think the Thinkpad 15th Anniversary "Reserve Edition" (leather-coated X61s) had a prismatic 8-cell. Good luck getting hold of one. Or even talking to someone that has seen one in person.

The X6x tablet 8 cell battery is half prismatic. Sadly, it's slightly too wide to be inserted into the X6xs, although the tablet is based on the s.
Sometimes coming over from the German forum...

Something tells me it is easier to fabricate a battery for this laptop.

Probably... :)

The original FRU for the Reserve Edition battery is 42T5260, BTW. However, looking for it will probably get you a list of 'compatible' parts, which will not necessarily be prismatic.

There's one for sale in the UK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Think ... 1429588924

No mention of the remaining capacity though.

If you persue this, I'd be very interested to know the result (and read the how-to).
I have a few 'dead' (firmware inflicted) original 4-cell packs hopeful they'll be revived.

I just bought a prismatic 4 cell and it was dead as a door nail. It's very difficult to find them - I would love to know if a 3rd party has made any, or can.

I've got one. Genuine. Like new (100% charge, <20 cycles).

PM me if interested; I'm not gonna use it anymore since I moved to X61 :)
