15" T60p with non-IPS display?

I have recently came across a very... weird machine. I have no idea how to name it... a T60/T60p hybrid?

Type 2007-FE2; MTM states it's actually a T60 with FireGL gpu... Does it really have a combination of XGA and FireGL GPU?

I'd lean toward the MTM lookup being correct. If the system has a T60p nameplate on the bezel, then it's possible that somebody either swapped the entire lid assembly, or slapped on the wrong clear plate (the plastic strip over the indicator LEDs).

Still it's a very weird config. FireGL running with XGA? I thought T60s were offered with gma950 / X1300 / X1400 only?

There were lots of custom built models with weird configs. For corporate customers and the like. The model number ending with a number and not with a letter (U for US, J for Japan, G for global) indicates this being such a model.

They are 15,0" or (more common) 15".

Most likely because a mistake that is repeated several times gets to mind and stays in there

I remember coming across such a config before, on German ebay I think. I remember that it had a late build date, so maybe it is because they had a lot of excess production stock of 15" parts, but no SXGA+ or UXGA screens to pair them with. But I'm just guessing.

Here's a guy who previously sold his FE2 which was bought new in 2008. That's very, very late for the T60p non-WS.

As per forum member Troels post - I too remember seeing these models advertised in the UK by IBM/Lenovo online partner retailer "Insight" circa early 2008 and sold out quite quickly...mainly due to their strong competitive pricing - this model may have been a European model only (?)
