First thinkpad line with LED backlight?

#1 Post by ELCouz » Mon Jan 22, 2018 9:34 pm

Hi,

I have a wonderful T61p...showing it's age on the CCFL...I'm wondering what from what Thinkpad model they start using LED backlight?

I will check this on my next purchase.

Thanks!

To my knowledge it was the generation immediately after the T61 - the T400/500 etc. Not all were equipped with it though - the ones I've seen that did were produced later in the model run.

Very close. X300 was the first with LED LCD and it's Santa Rosa era, same as the T61.

I think the first was the X200s in early 2008, which got WXGA+ and LED backlight.

I have a LED backlight in my x22 (Oct 2002) and also in my x60 (Jan 2006).

You can put a LED backlight in your T61p screen.

That's not what OP asked.
Your X22 and X60 are aftermarket updates, NOT ex-factory.

You assume 'they' are the companies Lenovo or IBM; I didn't make that assumption. The word 'they' can refer to people.
