1920x1200 with Z60m in Windows 7 32 bit
I thought I had this working before, but at present my install of Ultimate 32 bit won't drive LP154WU1-TLA2 at 1920x1200, it's showing the maximum res as 1680x1050 with the OEM 2007 driver and the 10.2 Legacy Vista driver.
Graphics: Radeon X600.
It's a likely possibility no Windows driver exists to pair the X600 with 1920x1200 which kinda sucks. If I can't solve this I'll swap a WSXGA+ back into my Z60m.

Try this: Pop in an Ubuntu Live-CD and see if the monitor is detected at full resolution. If it is found at full-res, the machine can handle it like I think it can. Then you will just have to find a monitor driver that works.
According to the web: The X600 chip is capable of 1920x1200 @ 75Hz.
EDIT: Does the Z60m use the stupid cable based resolution/lcd identification like the T4x series?

Re: 1920x1200 with Z60m in Windows 7 32 bit
Thanks.
I had Ubuntu in the machine before and it did run at 1920x1200, but after reassembling it last I put the Windows is.
The cable isn't the limiting factor, in some... experiments I've ran the Z60m cable off an R500 motherboard and it displayed 1920x1200 just fine. I can also try a different Windows install, this environment of Ultimate 32 has been moving between different laptops.
I will try booting Ubuntu and if it doesn't "fix it" I'll reseat the cable, I had some trouble plugging it in the last time and that could be messing with the results.

The Radeon X600 came in a desktop variant as well as a mobile chip. Try installing the desktop drivers, as those I know support 1920x1200.

Re: 1920x1200 with Z60m in Windows 7 32 bit
Ubuntu detects and displays fine 1920x1200 so it is a problem in Windows then... very peculiar. The TLA2 is an aftermarket display so there may be a conflict between it and the Z60m motherboard in Windows, like the issues I am having with the TLC1 in Windows.
I will try another version of Catalyst. If Windows continues to misbehave I will swap back in one of my 1680 or 1280 screens. Next I desire to install Windows XP on this machine.

This German Thinkpads forum thread indicates the same problem in Windows with a TLA1.

Seems the ATI X600 driver just does not support 1920x1200. I understand when people say ATI makes crap drivers now.
I will try installing a Dell Vista 32 bit driver for ATI X600 because they made Latitude D810 with ATI X600 and WUXGA. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/ ... Id=R153383 Remindsme of when I installed some other manufacturer's driver for the wireless card in my A31p, to enable WPA2. Hope this works.
edit: Didn't work.

Z61p (and T60p) had ATI FireGL V5200 with 1920x1200, maybe try their drivers?
Have you tried Omega instead of Catalyst?

They use a different graphics chip and overall chipset so I hadn't thought to try them, but it probably wouldn't hurt. I didn't know about the Omega drivers but I will look into that too, I wonder if they may help with my LP154WU1-TLC1 compatibility issues with T500.

1920x1200 with Z60m in Windows XP
I found a driver for Dell D810 available in the following Sonoma config.
- ATI X600
- SHARP WUXGA
- Windows XP
The driver: https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops- ... -p/1048272
I now have Windows XP installed in the Z60m. You'd think the Dell ATI driver would make WUXGA possible, right?
Not so simple.
Catalyst refuses to install and the driver by itself reports a max LP154WU1-TLA2 (Gossy WUXGA) panel resolution of 1680x1200. Forcing Windows to display 1920x1200 just reverts to 1600x1200 or 1680x1050. Same problem as with Windows 7.
The SHARP panel I own refused to even light up in the Z60m. It does light up, before and after, in a T500 just fine.
It would seem the Thinkpad Z60m with ATI X600, Windows, and WUXGA are completely incompatible.
However Thinkpad Z60m with ATI X600, Ubuntu, and WUXGA does work just fine.
I wonder if Thinkpad Z60m with Intel GMA 900, Windows, and WUXGA works??
But if you're at the point of switching motherboards, just get a Z61e / Z61m / Z61p board with Napa which have no issues with WUXGA!!!
Conclusion: Z60m running Windows does not support WUXGA.

I take it you know that the Z60m is "only" a slightly souped-up T43?
Have you tried drivers from the T43/p or R52?
Have you tried those Omega drivers I linked to a few months ago?

Re: 1920x1200 with Z60m in Windows 7 32 bit
Yep, Z60m uses the Sonoma chipset the same as T43, R52, X41. I'm surprised it refuses to support WUXGA in Windows using even the Dell driver for a Sonoma laptop (Dell D810) configured ATI X600, Windows XP, and SHARP WUXGA. I'm more surprised the Z60m refused to do anything with the SHARP WUXGA. I have confirmed the SHARP is not broken because it still works in a T500. There seems to be an incompatibility in Windows because with Ubuntu running the machine displays the full 1920x1200 fine with the TLA2.
I'll try the Omega drivers. They are worth trying on a T500 with Radeon 3650 and the LP154WU1-TLC1 which doesn't support non-native aspect ratio resolutions with the ATI graphics.

Re: Z60m 1920x1200 does not work in Windows
Omega drivers did not correct the incompatibility between LP154WU1-TLA2 and the Z60m running Windows XP.
I continue to suspect Windows drivers are the underlying issue because the LP154WU1-TLA2 displays 1920x1200 correctly in Ubuntu, and I was able to plug both screen and Z60m cable into an R500 and display 1920x1200 correctly in Windows 7/10, so the cable is not the issue.
I'll settle for 1680x1050 which is the highest resolution offered to the laptop.
I'd suspect BIOS crippling in the same manner than T43 and R52 with Intel GMA 900 cannot run UXGA if not for the panel seeming to run completely fine in Ubuntu.
I also want to say that Windows XP runs very fine and fast on this laptop, and will continue to if I maintain a clean environment. 7 is worth trying if you avoid bad programs.
