Extended Desktop with X201/Win7?
Extended Desktop with X201/Win7?
Hello,
I would like to use the extended desktop with my laptop. Here is my spec:
X201; Windows 7 64-bit.
I cannot find the option or control for it in my system.
Is it possible for mine to use the extended desktop?
If it is not the case, what is the problem? X201 or Win7 or Intel HD graphic?
Do I have to install an additional software for it?
Thank you.

If you are looking to do it wirelessly, I think you might need the Intel WiDi driver.
Intel Wireless Display for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad
That's what I used on my X220. Still, I needed a compatible receiver such as a Netgear PTV2000 to connect to.
If you are using a cable connection, then AFAIK Fn + F7 should bring up the option to extend or switch displays.

I saw this article, but this does not seem to apply for my x201. Moreover, it is for multiple displays not for multiple desktop with one monitor.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 6:24 amhttps://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... ivers.html
Thank you for your input.

Perhaps, I mispresented my issue. Although this wireless setup looks wonderful, I wanted to have multiple desktops not multiple displays.GomJabbar wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 7:53 amIf you are looking to do it wirelessly, I think you might need the Intel WiDi driver.

I think a simple program can solve my issue. Now trying some of them. Thank you so much.

Re: Extended Desktop with X201/Win7?
The term "Extended Desktop" which you used in your title and first post is typically used to mean 'extending the desktop over multiple monitors'. If you had said 'multiple desktop' from the start, you would probably get answers more like what you're looking for.
In any case, try the suggestions here:
