T430: mixing different memory types

#1 Post by ThorOfAsgard » Mon Jun 25, 2018 11:11 am

I'm currently running a T430 with two different types of SODIMMS. One is single rank and the other is dual rank (according to CPU-Z). Also, one shows as 1.35V and the other shows as 1.5V (again, according to CPU-Z). It seems to be running OK, but is this likely to cause any issues in the long run? Thanks.

There is no problem. The 1.35V RAM will run at 1.5V to match the 1.5V.

Yeah no problem at all. Back when I used to be a fanatical overclocker, I would spend a few bucks on fast matched memory. At best it was a small bump on some synthetic testing benchmark. I conclude it was not worth the time or money for the minuscule benefit. Mind you the OCD in me puts in matched pairs in my systems more often than not.
