top row of pixels lighter in color

i have a x1 with 2560x1440 ips screen the top few rows - 10 pixels high are lighter in color than rest of the screen. im using linux on this machine. is this a common problem or is this just an OS driver issue?

Shouldn't be caused by Linux. Back up your home and etc and install Windows to test. Is it light during boot up?
