Will trimmed 26R9246 Ultrabay adapter function in a T410s

#1 Post by Brainer » Thu Sep 13, 2018 9:29 pm

Hi everyone:

I have a Thinkpad Ultrabay adapter model 26R9246. I bought it because I was told it would work in my T410s. However, it stops near the very end. I read that some people have got these Ultrabay adapters to fit into models for which they weren't designed by trimming off the plastic tab at the rear. Does anyone know if this will be compatible with a T410s? I'm handy with tools, so trimming off the plastic tab would be easy for me.

Thanks

No.

That adapter is meant for *60/61 series and has a PATA connector. It won't work in the T410/s no matter how you trim it.

Colour me skeptical, as right on the drive bay it has the SATA logo, and reads "Serial ATA 1.5GB/s" . Also, I recognize the connectors as SATA, not parallel.

Maybe you're thinking of another model?

I should've been more precise in my previous post.

SATA logo refers to the type of drive used. Internal *60/61 architecture is PATA for the UltraBay. That changed in the 400/500 and later series.

No, I own that very adapter and use it in my T61p. Here's a ThinkWiki page on it as well:

This is the adapter that you need:

Does your T410s have a CD or DVD drive?

If yes, look at the connector at the back.

Then compare it to the connector on the 26R9246 Ultrabay adapter.

Rudeness was uncalled for. I simply asked for a confirmation. Lots of incorrect claims are made all over the Internet.

Your talking to the two top Thinkpad Forums users, both know just about everything about every Thinkpads and their owner just off the back of their hand. What you did was basically like asking Einstein "are you 100% sure about special relativity"

This ain't 4chan you know.

And yes he is correct. It has a built in SATA to PATA converter, and runs at IDE speeds.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

When you first post on a forum, people's credentials aren't immediately visible under their nicknames, you know.

Funny, maybe, but also rude; I have to agree with the newbie here. Let's cut our new members some slack. :D
