Mazzy Star is great. Nice choice.
I'm listening to the Pixies -- "Where is my Mind?"

Re: What music are you listening to right now?
Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval are new to me.
My latest find is vocalist Julieta Venegas and the group La Sonora Santanera: La Sonora Santanera - El Ladrón ft. Julieta Venegas
La Sonora Santanera is a tight excellent Mexican group that features a variety of vocalists. Below are some samples.
La Sonora Santanera featuring Charlie Zaa (Carlos Alberto Sánchez) and Yuri (Yuridia Valenzuela Canseco): La Sonora Santanera - La Pollera Colorá
La Sonora Santanera featuring Roco: La Sonora Santanera - La Boa ft. Roco
La Sonora Santanera featuring Diego Moran: La Sonora Santanera - El Muñeco de la Ciudad ft. Diego Moran
La Sonora Santanera featuring María León: La Sonora Santanera - Mi Caprichito ft. María León

Robert Plant called her "the best female voice ever to come out of England" and I would agree...

Thanks George,
Remember her from her Fairport Convention days, I'd completely forgotten about her!
I think I actually still have a record of her in my collection.
Been listening to her (again) since I found your post, about 3 hours ago. Fabulous indeed.

Every generation is going to say the current state of music is horrible...I think that is basically a human requirement.ajkula66 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 11:32 pmThat's the way some of us felt about 80s music back then... ...and still do...

Re: What music are you listening to right now?
Yeah, that sounds about right, at least to a degree. I hated 80s altogether, not just the music. On the other hand, 90s brought a lot of stuff that I did like. Go figure.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 8:18 amEvery generation is going to say the current state of music is horrible...I think that is basically a human requirement.

Re: What music are you listening to right now?
Didn't like the 80s....but liked the 90s? That's not something I hear everyday. But interesting nonetheless.
I'm a generation behind mostly in my taste....but for me anything from about '78-'92 excluding most ballads are good by me. Some stuff in the later 90s is fine too... but 2004-2006 is the REAL END of the road.

I love Bach, am a *huge* Beatles fan but it was Alice In Chains that brought me back from the dead in the early 90s...
Yes, generational preferences almost always have some impact on one's taste. However, there is stuff that is timeless...like this:I'm a generation behind mostly in my taste....but for me anything from about '78-'92 excluding most ballads are good by me. Some stuff in the later 90s is fine too... but 2004-2006 is the REAL END of the road.

I've played this (loudly) to people who had no understanding of language or tradition involved, and have yet to come across someone who wasn't moved...

I'll listen to that a bit later and respond back...probably should fire up the Altec Speakers if you want me to play it loudly.....not sure if my T450 would do it justice even with Dolby Advanced Audio on.ajkula66 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 1:14 pmI love Bach, am a *huge* Beatles fan but it was Alice In Chains that brought me back from the dead in the early 90s...

ok....ok....Bach, Beatles, and Alice in the Chains?!?
That....that is just something from out of this world. I guess we all have a little strangeness in us all...am I right? I never in a million years would hear those three names together...well mostly the third one with the other two.
That just made my day .
So let me guess... you like Laurel and Hardy...Monty Python...and South Park
