WTB X1 Carbon
WTB X1 Carbon
Hello all, I recently register here because i'm looking for a new "travel" laptop.
I don't know everything about thinkpad yet but I like the style of X1 carbon and it seems very thin and light : perfectly appropriate to what I want for travel.
Since I already have a PC, this new one won't be uses very often so I'm not looking for the best characteristics. In fact I want to lower the price so I think I don't care lots about configuration but it seems every X1 come with minimum i5 processor...
If somebody has something of this kind, I would please to hear about you, thanks !

Re: WTB X1 Carbon
You should specify which generation of the X1 you want because there are 6 of them and each one is a bit different.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Hi, thanks for your answer.
For some reasons, I think 1st generation would be more convenient to me.
But I am open to hear about other generations, except maybe the 2nd gen because I want to convert the keyboard to AZERTY and I don't know if it would work fine with the special keyboard of 2nd gen.

Re: WTB X1 Carbon
I have an x1 Carbon 3rd gen for sale. Actually in the process of adding a FHD (1080p screen).
i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD. Backlit and fingerprint. Asking $300 plus $15 shipping for this one!
Reasons why the 3rd gen is better than the 1st and second:
- They fixed the motherboard issues from 4th generation intel/2nd gen Carbon
- Trackpad is much improved
- Keyboard travel is like a T-series
- Screen is better (and way better with 1080p mod)
- Great travel laptop, plenty of power and battery life

@bluelinebrother -- Is that 3rd gen Carbon still available? If so: any updates on the screen mod, price, etc.?
